It is possible to search:

• Catalogues - Searches books, journals and other document types from NLK catalogues
• BMČ – articles - Searches articles in the Bibliografia medica čechoslovaca database (BMC)
• All - Searches both books and journals from National Medical Library catalogue and articles from the BMC database

Search tips:

All fields are searched. You can enter keywords either in Czech or in English.

If you enter two or more keywords, they are automatically connected by the AND operator.

You can use also OR and NOT operators, they must be explicitly stated in the query.

It is possible to use * for truncation, e.g. lumb* finds lumbal, lumbago, lumbalgia etc.

You can use wildcard ? e.g. h?ematology finds both hematology and haematology

For searching a phrase use inverted commas, e.g. "low back pain".

If you want to search for a particular author, journal, subject (MeSH heading, keyword) or conference, use the specific form fields on the Introduction page.

If the search retrieves no results, you can use MedGate, a federated search for NLM’s e-resources (for NML registered users only)

You can view either records of documents

• created by the author or corporation
• about the author or corporation

or you can use filters, e.g. Role - author or editor

You can view either all records that contain selected heading or click on any subheadings and use the combination in the query.
